Be a German energy trader for a day!

Via co-operation with Marlin – the leading provider of energy trading simulations in Europe – Montel allows you to put into practice what you learned in the German electricity market seminar.

In this full-day workshop, you step into the shoes of a trader on the German energy market and face the real challenge of making split-second decisions in ever-changing market conditions with profits at stake.

You will be working with simulations used extensively by the major utilities.

The simulation follows on from a seminar by Konstantin Lenz on the previous day, helping traders and analysts gain insights into the drivers of prices and policy in Germany's electricity market.


1. Morning session
Dispatching an asset in the German short-term power market

Handling the processes of a CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) plant in the day-ahead, intraday and day after markets

- Market analysis
- Minute reserve
- Auction
- Intraday trading
- IntradayS Market (resolving imbalances)

You will be analysing live market data to place an auction bid and then compare it with the actual spot out-turn.


2. Afternoon session
Hedging an coal-fired asset in the German long-term energy market

- Market analysis
- OTC power trading
- Coal trading and stock management
- CO2 trading
- NOx (nitrogen oxide) and SOx (sulfur oxide) management
- Credit management

The course will be held in English language

Terms and conditions
Payment due within 20 days from received invoice. If you are prevented from coming, a colleague can take your place. If you have to cancel your registration one month before the event, an administration fee of 10% will be charged. If the cancellation takes place one month and closer to the conference, total amount will be charged. However, you will receive a free place to a future Montel-event. Cancellations have to be in writing.
